How to find an ace in a CS2 demo
To find an ace in a CS2 demo, open the demo, press Shift+F2 for the demo UI and use the round selector to check rounds one by one, fast-forwarding with demo_timescale and watching the kill feed for your name. If you remember the round, jump straight to it. The quicker route is killcam.gg: every match lists your kills by round with an ACE badge on any ace, and your top plays are clipped automatically.
01What counts as an ace
An ace is killing every enemy in a single round: all five in Premier or Competitive. A 4K is four kills in a round. A clutch is winning a 1vN as the last player alive on your team. All of them are round-level plays, so the job is always the same: find the right round.
02Get the demo first
You need the match demo on your PC. In CS2, open Watch → Your Matches and download the match; Valve only lists your last 8 and keeps demos for a limited time, typically a few weeks at most. Details in how to download old CS2 demos.
03Find it by hand
- Open the demo from Watch → Your Matches, or with
playdemoin the console. - Press Shift+F2 (or run
demoui) to open the demo UI with the timeline, round selector, speed and players. - If you remember roughly when it happened, jump to that round with the round selector.
- If you don't, go round by round. Set
demo_timescale 4to speed through and watch the kill feed for your name. - When you see it, drop back to
demo_timescale 1and rundemo_marktickso you can return withdemo_gotomark.

demo_gotomarkBe honest with yourself about the time. Scrubbing a full match round by round takes a while, and it's easy to miss a fast spray-down in a busy kill feed. Click to cycle players if the demo isn't on you, or use spec_player with your name. More controls are in the demo commands cheat sheet.
04Finding a 4K or a clutch
Same method, different signal. For a 4K, look for four of your kills in one round's kill feed. For a clutch, look for rounds where your teammates all died and you were left alone, then check whether your side won. Clutches are harder to spot at 4x speed because the kills can be spread out over a long round.
05See which round you aced, automatically
killcam.gg reads each match demo from Valve and finds your plays for you. One play per round where you got a kill, classified as Ace, Clutch, Multi-kill or Kill. The match page lists Your kills, best first, one row per round with a badge (ACE, 1vN, 4K, …) and the round number. So the round you aced is right there.
- Plays are ranked by kill count, aces, clutch size and style: headshots, wallbangs, noscopes, kills through smoke, while flashed, mid-air, knife kills and kills close together.
- The Clips page filters by play type (Ace, Clutch, Multi-kill, Kill) and sorts by best play, so your clipped aces show up in one place.
- Free clips your top play from every match automatically. Pro clips your top 3, and lets you open any match, pick any kill and hit Clip it.
It works for Valve matchmaking only (Premier, Competitive, Wingman), and only while Valve still has the demo. For what to do once you've found it, see what makes a good CS2 highlight.
