How to get your CS2 share code and authentication code
Your CS2 share code and game authentication code both come from one Steam Support page: sign in, click Create Authentication Code, and the page shows your auth code plus the share code of your most recent match. A share code looks like CSGO-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx and points to one match; the auth code looks like XXXX-XXXXX-XXXX and lets an app read your match history.
Share code decoder
Paste a share code (or a Steam match link) to see the three numbers inside it. It's decoded right here in your browser; nothing is sent anywhere.
Sign in and your matches get clipped automatically.
Sign in through Steam01Two codes, two jobs
People mix these up. A share code identifies a single match. A game authentication code gives an app read access to your match history, so it can find every match after a given share code.
| Share code | Game authentication code | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | Share code:The ID of one match | Game authentication code:A key to read your match history |
| Format | Share code:CSGO-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx | Game authentication code:XXXX-XXXXX-XXXX |
| Where | Share code:Steam Support page (latest match), or a match in CS2 | Game authentication code:Steam Support page only |

02Get your game authentication code
- Open Steam Support's match history access page for CS2. You can also get there via Steam Support → Counter-Strike 2 → access to your match history.
- Sign in with your Steam account.
- Click Create Authentication Code.
- Copy the code in the
XXXX-XXXXX-XXXXformat.
The same page also shows the share code of your most recent match. That's usually all you need to get started.
03Get a match share code
For your latest match, take the share code from the Steam Support page above. For older matches, use CS2: Watch → Your Matches lists your recent matches (Valve's Game Coordinator only provides the last 8), and each one has its own share code.
With a share code you can pull that match straight into the game. Open the console (enable it under Settings → Game → Enable Developer Console, then press ~) and run:
csgo_download_match CSGO-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxx-xxxxxIt downloads the demo and starts playback, as long as Valve still has it. Demos don't last long, typically a few weeks at most. More in how to download old CS2 demos.
04What a CS2 share code looks like
CSGO- followed by five groups of five letters and digits, separated by dashes. The prefix is still CSGO- in CS2, so don't let that throw you. The game authentication code is shorter, XXXX-XXXXX-XXXX, with no prefix.
05Is it safe to share your authentication code?
The game authentication code is not your password and can't log in to your account. It only lets an app read your match history: starting from a share code, it can walk forward through your matches one by one. If you want to cut an app off, go back to the same Steam Support page and revoke the code.
06Using the codes on killcam.gg
- Sign in through Steam. It's Steam's own login page, so killcam.gg never sees your password.
- Paste your game authentication code and a share code, either during onboarding on the Matches page or later in Settings → Match sync.
- Play Premier, Competitive or Wingman. New matches are found automatically within minutes of finishing, and each clip takes a few minutes to make.
Want your last 8 games too? Use the share code of the oldest match in Watch → Your Matches as the starting share code, and every match after it gets pulled. To grab just one game, use Add a match by share code. Your top play from each match is clipped free; see Pro for more.
