How to share a CS2 clip to Discord or X
To share a CS2 clip on Discord, drag the MP4 into the chat if it fits the free upload limit (20 MB at the time of writing), or paste a link that embeds the video. For X, attach the MP4 to a post. With killcam.gg, the clip page has a Discord button that copies a link Discord embeds as a video, and a Post to X button.
01First, get the clip as an MP4
Both Discord and X take a normal video file. If you caught the play with a recorder, export it as MP4. If you didn't, the match demo is your source: see how to turn a CS2 demo into an MP4. killcam.gg clips your plays straight from Valve's match demo, and every clip has an MP4 download and a share link (killcam.gg/c/...).
02Share a CS2 clip on Discord
Upload the file
- Check the file size. Free Discord accounts can upload 20 MB per message at the time of writing; Nitro gets more.
- Drag the MP4 into the channel or DM, or use the upload button next to the message box.
- Add a line of context ("1v4 on B, eco round") and send.
Whether a clip fits depends on its length, resolution and frame rate. A long or high-resolution file often won't, which is where a link is easier.
Paste a link instead
On a killcam.gg clip page, hit Discord. It copies the clip's link, and when you paste it into Discord the clip video embeds right in the chat. No upload, no size limit to think about, and your friends can watch it without leaving Discord.
03Post a CS2 clip on X (Twitter)
- Pick the format. 16:9 suits the timeline on desktop; 9:16 fills a phone screen.
- On a killcam.gg clip, use the switch under the player and hit Download 16:9 or Download 9:16 to get the MP4.
- In X, start a post, attach the video and write your caption.
Prefer a link? The Post to X button on the clip page shares the clip to X in one step. On a phone, Share sends the 9:16 MP4 file itself through your phone's share sheet where the browser supports sharing files, so you can pick X or Discord from there. Otherwise it shares the link.
04Why your clip won't upload to Discord
Almost always it's file size. The free limit is small (20 MB at the time of writing), and a raw screen recording of a whole round goes past it fast. Your options:
- Trim it. Cut everything before the first kill and after the last. A good clip is seconds, not minutes; see what makes a good highlight.
- Lower the resolution or frame rate when you export.
- Share a link instead of the file. A killcam.gg link embeds the video in Discord, so the upload limit doesn't apply.
- Nitro raises the limit, if you already have it.
05Who can see your link
killcam.gg clips are public, unlisted or private. They're public by default, and you can change it per clip or in Settings. Check it before you drop a link in a big server.
Free clips carry a small killcam.gg logo at the bottom centre. Pro removes it and goes up to 4K 120fps, or you can earn Pro clips by repping killcam.gg in your Steam name or clan tag (rewards).
